Opening May 1 on the Asheville Highway between Mills River and Pisgah Forest is a business unlike anything most people have seen in this area—American garage. American Garage is a hybrid store—a combination garage/shop/automotive and motorcycle enthusiasts “destination”.

The concept, created by Micah and Jerry Ansley, is to stock and offer goods and services aimed at the garage and shop enthusiast, the man who loves his bike (motorcycle) or car(s) and likes to tinker in his shop or garage. The Ansley brothers, who are no strangers to the automotive/motorcycle market, have for the last 20 years marketed the industry leading brand of automotive electronic accessories. Now retired from that endeavor, the two brothers have turned all their energies toward creating the “ultimate” garage and shop showroom.

Featuring three distinct garage environments, American Garage will focus on flooring for all types of scenarios from Epoxy to RaceDeck tiles to rolled materials from such industry leaders as (BLT) Better Life Technologies. The brothers have teamed up with the leading brands and installation crews for guaranteed quality and durability in all their products. They are especially excited about their partnership with their garage floor installers who have been laying down Epoxy floors, RiverRock and acid stained material for over 16 years. That experience allows the Ansleys to offer a lifetime warranty to its customers.

Flooring is just one of the may garage products American Garage will offer. They will have storage products from local manufacturers as well as builders of American’s finest metal cabinets for the racing industry. The emphasis will be on “American Made” products. Organization is the key word at American Garage” since they carry a broad range of products that make organizing the garage affordable, easy and fun, and in the end creates an unusually appealing shop environment.

For those who just want to keep their favorite “toy” clean and shiny American Garage will offer a variety of detailing products and accessories, even hydraulic lifts to raise one’s favorite “ride” to eye level for those who are tired of dropping to their knees to keep their bikes clean.

To introduce American Garage to the area the Ansleys are hosting a benefit bluegrass concert on May 17 on behalf of fiddler Roy Chapman. The event, “Bluegrass in the Pasture,” will take place on the grounds surrounding American Garage with all proceeds from this family-style event going to Chapman to aid in his fight against bone cancer. Food also will be available.

The showroom on Asheville Highway is a 14-Acre property with a rustic wood and stone front offering 3,750 square feet of “garage” space backed up by a 5,000 square-foot warehouse with three semi-sized garage doors on each side. From this location, American Garage and the Ansleys hope to project their image of an extreme garage environment nationally to a customer base passionate about the cars and motorcycles they ride.

Internet sales will also be offered from the web site www.AmericanGarage.com beginning May 1.

The first thing one sees upon entering the showroom is a red 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible in pristine condition. A “stinger Chopper” seen on Speed Channels Unique Whips will also be available for viewing. The bike was featured in the “Hot Bike” magazine February 2006 issue. A mildly customized 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King also will be displayed in the air on one of the hydraulic lifts American Garage sells.

Phase one of the Ansley endeavor is American Garage, but plans are in the works to develop the entire 14-Acre setting into a family oriented group of businesses with a passion for cars and motorcycles as a central theme. American Grille, Stage 2 is in the works.

The Ansleys and the staff at American Garage are focused on making customer service the number one priority.
